cerebral lupus

Cerebral lupus is a constellation of neurological, behavioral, and clinical syndromes in SLE patients. Lupus in the central nervous system (CNS) is sometimes called CNS lupus or Neuropsychiatric lupus. Cerebral lupus is also a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by inflammation in the brain.

Cerebral lupus has various clinical features, including neurological and psychiatric symptoms. The most common neurological damage was epilepsy, cerebrovascular disease, cranial nerve palsy, intracranial hypertension, aseptic meningitis, and transverse inertial spondylitis. The main manifestations of mental disorders were psychosis-like reactions, such as auditory hallucinations, delusions, stupor, fear, and feeling of being controlled. Organic encephalopathy syndrome is characterized by disturbance of consciousness, disorientation, poor attention, poor memory, and abnormal behavior.

So far, in various clinical manifestations of cerebral lupus, the most valuable findings in diagnosing this disease are epilepsy, psychiatric symptoms, transverse myelitis, stroke, transient ischemic attack, and aseptic meningitis.
