Dr. Xu: Many papers have discussed this topic. Of course, it highly depends on which protein you want to express. I remember there was a very nice paper published in 2019 comparing CHO-S, CHO-K1 and CHO-DG44 for protein expression capacity. Their data demonstrated that the addition of feed concentrates substantially influenced cell accumulation by favoring one CHO host over the other regarding their specific nutrient demands. However, it seems that CHO-K1 always results in the highest titer for mAb expression, while CHO-S seems to be a better choice when expressing protein for biomass synthesis.
