Overview

To simplify the purification of recombinant proteins by affinity chromatography, a tag of protein/peptide or other molecule with known size is usually incorporated into the proteins. The two most commonly used tags are 6×Histidine and Glutathione S-transferase (GST). Biotin and Streptavidin are also frequently attached to proteins of interest to enable simple affinity purification.
