GenScript’s custom peptides for T cell activation assays provide synthesis of even the most difficult peptides to get all of your vaccine and immunotherapy R&D work done in a timely manor.
What is T Cell Activation?
There are two main types of T cells, helper T cells (CD4+) and killer T cells T cells (CD8+). Helper T cells are activated in response to interaction between its T Cell Receptor (TCR) and a pathogenic epitope presented on an Antigen Presenting Cells (APC) Major Histone Compatibility Complex II (MHCI). This activated helper T cell will then induce B cell mediated immunity against the pathogen. When killer T cells become active through direct interaction with pathogenic antigen on MHCI, they release cytokines, cytotoxins, and perforins to kill the pathogen directly.

How are Peptides Utilized in T Cell Activation Assays?
T Cell Activation assays utilize a small region of an infectious agent, such as a virus or tumor, in the form of a peptide, to stimulate patient derived immune cells and measure the resulting immune response to indicate possible use in a therapeutic platform. T cell activation assays include but are not limited to cytokine analysis (Elispot and AIM), flow cytometry, and cytotoxicity.
